Re: Understanding GNL Public License with Opencart

I forgot about vQMod. I am not familiar with it but the same test applies. If it requires OC for it to work, then it gets consumed by the GNU GPL.

Re: Understanding GNL Public License with Opencart

Sorry if this has been discussed many times, but please correct me if I am wrong: As long as the module/extension author provides you the source code of the module that you have to paste into existing OpenCart code, you are free to do whatever with the module (including resell, publish freely, modi...

Re: Versioning confusion

That's a real shame because it just isn't a sustainable viable business model to keep releasing 'trunk' versions, with no stable branches. I have been using OC for almost a year myself and also have a number of installations I have done for others that I maintain but it is quickly becoming a nightma...

Versioning confusion

OK, so maybe I could have make the title more appropriate but in any event, I'm hoping this is seen as constructive comments and not a personal attack against OC, the developers and other parties who help to run this site. I'm a developer myself and contribute to a number of FOSS projects as well as...

Re: OpenCart 1.6.0 Roadmap

I have to agree adding CDN support is not a bad idea. Amazon S3 or Rackspace Cloud Files is going to go down much less often than your host whatever it may be is. Amazon just had a major 48 hour outage a few months ago. And as someone who worked for a company that was really pushing cloud computing...

Why? What's the point?
Using OpenCart or anything similar in the manner you desscribed is like using heat seeking missile to swat a fly.
How are you going to verify purchases? How are you going to offer support etc?

Re: Sneak Peak: OpenCart v1.5.2 Upgrade Script

<snip> Unfortunately we need to have a static version number to do this. The current VERSION constant is stored in the index.php file, but when you upload the new files, it overwrites the index.php file and the last version is lost. So my idea is to add the config version to the config.php files du...

Re: Why didn't some 1.4 features make it into 1.5?

It's kind of sad to read that. Don't get me wrong, I really like OpenCart and I have just put one into production on one of my sites for digital dowloads. It is fairly intuitive to use (for a first time OC user) and I don't have too many software products that I'm selling, so the auto-complete thing...

Thank you for taking the time to clarify this.

Re: 1,5 SEO URLS's

It looks like the manufacturer is tapping correctly; http://www.toners4u.co.uk/Kyocera I just checked on my own OC 1.5.05 site and I see the same link building on mine. This only happens when you sort by manufacturer and not by product. The tap isn't perfect for manufacturer but it does utilise the ...

Re: Why didn't some 1.4 features make it into 1.5?

I completely agree -- I just noticed the auto-complete doesn't even pick up parts of product titles, it has to be exactly what the title begins with. (For example, it won't pick up "Palm Treo Pro" if you type in "treo".) Maybe you just need to change the SQL statement to use LIK...

Re: config files generating error about header.php

I see from some of the paths listed that your OC installation seems to be in a directory called 'shop'. If that is the case, some of your URL's seem to be incorrect. As an example in your admin/config.php you have // HTTP define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://MYDOMAIN/admin/'); define('HTTP_CATALOG', 'http:...

Re: Selling PDF files without the extension changes?

Is this a new install? It might be due to missing or corrupted files during the FTP process. Re: Does Opencart reviews support microdata for SEO?

I wrote a Review Script last year, which I sell on one of my websites and it is actually pretty easy to add microdata. It is just tags around the data after all, much like how you use HTML markup tags. Provided you have the data you need passed to the page, it should be straightforward. I might even...

I am using OpenCart for Digital Goods myself, so from my short experience with OpenCart; 1. Re: Download page?

I think you need to be a bit more specific of your needs but yes, you can add the technical pdf's as downloadable products and set the price at 0.00 (if you need them to be free). They should be searchable because they are a product just like the shippable items. If you add your pdf's first, when yo...
