Re: Beginner OpenCart. Wondering what the limitations are.

Agreed,

No need for a full e-commerce solution, you could make it in a catalog mode but I wouldn't advise that. You better choose the lightest and fastest solution and have less concerns. Why make it more difficult than it should be?

Good luck!

Re: https:// to https://www per htaccess

In my htaccess I put:

Code: Select all

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [L,R=301]

RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} !^443$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [L,R=301]
Works perfect for me, let me know if it helps.

Re: robots.txt

You could still benefit from mentioning your sitemap in your robots file, but it's still only advice to Google, Google decides what it crawls based on the budget it spends to your site.

Re: SEO and Opencart

I have to agree with labeshops, the only way it really works, is by working every day at your content, keywords, title and description tags which can be hard if you have a fulltime job. And after some time these 4 things can change a lot, but they have to stay coherent. All the extensions can't repl...

Forums are good for seo, i take that point too, hats of for your work on...
