Re: removing language/currency bar

Chones,

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I can't do it now, but hopefully can take a stab at it later.

Thank you,
Jared

Re: Web hosts. Who's good and who to avoid

May I ask what bad experiences you had with Host Gator? I just ask because I decided to go with them, and want to know what to watch out for!

Thank you,
Jared

Re: Using 301 redirects for SEO good or bad?

Chones, I've got Google indexing http://www.mysite.com, http://mysite.com, and http://www.mysite.com/store-sub-folder. Does it do more good to have one or another? I put in my robots.txt to disallows domain/all-electronics/* (the category with everything in it) - this should stop Google from indexin...

Re: removing language/currency bar

Thanks Chones. I actually just barely figured it out just before you replied, then edited my post. What I'd like to do is get a Google translate tool up there, any ideas? It just looks out of place / less professional, and takes up more space if it is a regular module on the side. Thank you, Jared

Re: removing language/currency bar

Hi, I really want to place a Google translate option in place of the current language option. I've removed the default language selector (but kept the currency one), and was wondering if anyone knows a pretty way to get the Google translate widget up there next to it so that it looks nice? Thank you...

Re: Using 301 redirects for SEO good or bad?

Hey Chones, I do legitimately appreciate you taking the time to educate me (especially so many times and so thoroughly). I think you're right - and that it's not something that I need to pour too much effort into. I actually have every product in two categories. As I only have just a couple products...

Re: [MOD] - TinyMCE replacement for 1.4.9

Hi,

Thank you for the replies. I just have one language installed, and don't really have a problem with the current editor and don't want to be doing any more hacking than I have need to do, so I'll be sticking with the default.

Thanks!
Jared

Re: Using 301 redirects for SEO good or bad?

Ok, this post got larger and larger as I thought more, so I've organized it into numbers. If someone does decide to take up this post, please answer in the same numbered format so that we can keep things straight :) 1. Thanks, good to know the fact that 301 redirects do not hurt SEO. 2. That is too ...

Re: Using 301 redirects for SEO good or bad?

Ok, that's some very good information. So: - Are 301 redirects bad for SEO in any way? - How do I make the links from something linked from the "featured" page go to the proper page with the right breadcrumbs? I know that with the canonical entry it probably isn't too big of a deal, but if it's poss...

Thank you!

Looks like it's time for me to learn how to use vQmod (nervous :S)

Re: Using 301 redirects for SEO good or bad?

Found out how to remove URL's in Google Webmaster Tools. New question now though. Originally, attracta had a link for a sitemap for me in the first line of my robots.txt file. This was all Google was showing, even though there was content beneath this line. I have since removed that line, and submit...

Re: Using 301 redirects for SEO good or bad?

Hey again, I appreciate your continued assistance. I hadn't 301 redirected any ?sort URL's, but it's a good thing you mentioned it because I probably would have without realizing what I was doing. Do you know of any way to SEO other URL's such as the contact page? I ask because it is of course at a ...

Using 301 redirects for SEO good or bad?

Hi, Since OpenCart allows the same page to be accessed via so many different URL's (even more if SEO URL's are enabled), Google Webmaster tools is telling me that I've got duplicate content all over the place. To remedy this, I used 301 redirects on certain URL's in my .htaccess file as per a post h...

Re: Need tester for performance tweaks

Hey everyone, It seems as if the performance gains here are massive. Of course it is with a massive database, but if your site loads approximately 20x faster...it loads 20x faster. Of course that depends on overhead and things, but I want this in my site! Unfortunately, I'm sort of a noob at this st...

Re: Google Analytics Ecommerce Tracking

Thanks. I wasn't sure if (when above it said if orders "don't get completed/cancelled/reversed") it would count something as a sale even if the customer never completed the order.

I'll try implementing this and see what happens, thanks!

Re: Google Analytics Ecommerce Tracking

Hi,

So what is our conclusion here? Of course, I do not want to be counting incomplete / cancelled sales.

I tried to check out the Galvanize link for info, but got a 404.

Thank you,
Jared

Re: [MOD] - TinyMCE replacement for 1.4.9

Hey all,

Would someone mind elaborating on why this is something I want to do? I just don't know much about either. What are the pros / cons of TinyMCE vs. the current editor?

Also - anyone know if it is working fully with the supplied code for 1.4.9.3?

Thank you,
Jared

Re: SEO URLS that works (for home, cart, breadcrumps etc)

Just in case this is useful, this is my robots.txt file: User-agent: * Disallow: /*?sort Disallow: /*?route=checkout/ Disallow: /*?route=account/ Disallow: /*?route=product/search Disallow: /*?page=1 Disallow: /*&create=1 Allow: / That stops the same category page being indexed for every possible s...

Re: NEEDED - Q&A Section in Product

I would recommend using something like DISQUS. I added that on my site a while back (I have to re-add it to my new theme) but it worked great and was very easy to plugin. I'd actually like to switch to DISQUS for the extension store comments This would not work for a specs tab though, would it? Sor...

Re: NEEDED - Q&A Section in Product

This is the same type of thing I am looking for (though I want mine to be a "Specs" tab). As each product would have it's won Specs / Q&A, I would be fine if the admin panel allowed for editing either within the product, or in a separate area as OnNets has specified. There is more than one intereste...
