Re: Upgrade
For an upgrade that far back, I'd suggest contacting a developer and even looking into Qphoria's upgrade service.

Re: Dangers of NOT upgrading
The security risks of running old, non supported PHP versions is a huge risk. Atleast use Qphoria's upgrade service or work with a developer for further customization and upgrades.

What do you mean there's not much to fear? How about the fact that PHP 5.5 hasn't been supported for years and it's a huge security risk? All website owners (and hosting companies) should take this seriously and be running websites that use PHP 7.1, 7.2 or 7.3 There are so many hackers out there, wh...

Re: Advice for building a new webshop for an existing store
You'll need to update both config.php files. If you're trying to merge any customers, products and/or orders into the new store, that gets a bit harder but it's completely doable. Jump to post

Re: Using OpenCart for a vacation rentals website - will this be a good fit?
I am not sure that you can do this 'out of the box' but Opencart is all open source so it can be customized to fit these requirements. We've done similar things with other businesses and could likely help out if you want to contact us through our website.

In addition to clearing the OC cache mentioned above, make sure your browser cache is cleared as well. One other cache would be vqmod cache if you're using vqmod.
