Hi,

I have installed Open Cart as a sub directory within my WordPress installation. I would like an Open Cart simple 'View Cart' in the sidebar of my WordPress pages, (i.e. just 'number of items in basket', and 'basket total', and a link to go and pay). I thought that this was going to be relatively easy but cannot seem to find anything that works.

Has anyone managed to do this?

This is really a WordPress question - any WordPress expert could do this for you. It's not an OpenCart questions.

You can use the custom html widget and enter any HTML into it or if you want to get the cart in there for static linking.
However you'll need to get a widget that allows you to enter PHP code for output if you want to retrieve any cart information from the current session.
