I have a question, when someone is ordering, filling in a form or asking a question thru a form I receive double emails. I even have a module now where I receive 4 emails with the same message.
Any one an idea what to do about this. I already have checked the email configuration of the shop.

first thing, check your vqcache to see if anything is modifying your system/library/mail.php. If no, check if your files are calling $mail->send(); multiple times. If all the answer is no, perhaps check on your mail server
i'm sure system/library/mail.php exists. Else, you won't be running your OpenCart without any errors
any errors, or are there any files modified?
disable everything in your vqmod/xml folder except for vqmod_opencart.xml. See if it's still doing so

Is there any update on this because I am having this problem too and I have followed the recommended check as above. I have tested and the customer only receives the one email (good) but the assigned admin email receives two.

95% the email is added as Store email and in Additional Alert Mail
Upgrade Service | OC 2.3.0.2 PHP 8 | My Custom OC 3.0.3.8 | Buy me a beer
System -> Settings -> Edit (Your Store) -> Mail (Tab) -> Additional Alert Mail. Check that it's empty.
Now that the issue has been solved, please add: [SOLVED] at the beginning of the subject line on your first post.
