I am just starting with OC, partly triggered by the lockdown.
Our situation is something like this: we have 3 family stores - groceries, apparel, and hardware. Now we wish to set up online stores in the following format: a main (preexisting non-store) site: www.family.com and three shops in individual directories such as: family.com/shop_grocery, family.com/shop_apparel and family.com/shop_hardware. We are not too keen on using subdomains (but we can consider it) because they are used by individual family members, so, e.g. my subdomain is yogesch.familyname.com.
Though the ownership is shared, they are all run and managed separately. The inventories are obviously very different for each store and the manager of one store should/need not be able to log into the admin page of the others. It is fine if there is a super-admin who can view/access/edit on admin pages of each store, but is it also possible to create admin accounts restricted to each individual store?
I had a good look at the multi store setup. I am not sure about it because it *seems* to be about the same owner managing different stores. Please correct me if this is wrong.
Do I need separate store installations? I could have multiple FreeBSD jails (similar to docker containers) and install a different store in each jail and use nginx to redirect traffic based on the requested address. Or can I achieve what I want with multi stores?
If this made sense so far, what do you think would be the best set up I should follow?
