Hi
I am running 3 shops. 2 with V 2 and one with Version 1.5.6.1.
I have the txt file that says simply copy the new data over the old data and follow the prompts, but my experience tells me that this is not going to be that easy. I set the shop up 5 or 6 years ago and have forgotten what amends I did.
I have been considering updating the V1.5 shop for quite some time. Is it possible to set up two folders such as /currentshop and /newshop with the new V3 version in 'newshop' and both connecting to the same database. This way I will be able to see if the upgrade is possible without too many issues.
I dont want to install V3 and then find I have so many issues our website is down for days and days.

Well, before buying a new Car, first buy a Car Magazine, publishing some
Figures+Facts about it, especially if one uses the new Car in daily Business.
But better never throw the old car away, before you made sure, that the
new one will function and do it's Job as planned. Unfortunately, there is no
OC Magazine, but they're on Github, and there, one can find out, if it pays
out already, taking chances, without at least getting paid for ... ;)

And/but if one plans to move up, one should also consider an already existing
and widely proven Version 2.3.0.2, and one so also can make use of many already
existing Extensions, partly not available (yet) for OC v.3.x Versions.
Github.com Member condor2 (OC Forum xxvirusxx) has his 'latest' OC v.2.3.0.2
as well as his 'latest' OC v.3.0.3.6, both Versions are updated to latest Spec's regularely,
in addition to a few gadgets, found and taken from the forever-prototype v.3.1.x :D
Condor2's OC v.2.3.0.2 is probably the best OC ever created, except for my 1.5.6.5 ::)

Just to have it said, personally, I'm a 1.5.6.5 Freak, because it offered my more
on free Mods than anything else, and it was known, to already function, as you
most likely will confirm, by still using his slightly older brother ... ;)

Good Luck, and if you do it commercially, get a Pro, to upgrade your DB, if you
move up to OC v.2.x or v.3.x, just to make sure ... ;)

I'll give a +1 for 1.5.6.5. Personally I would upgrade your 1.5 to 1.5.6.5, stick a responsive theme on it and keep using it for as long as it runs. Once it stops running have a rethink. Job done. :)

Well, if everybody would have done it this way, this Forum would widely be empty.
