Hey guys, I have some update.
I fill up the SMTP settings in the admin page as follow:
smtp host: ssl://smtp.gmail.com
user: user@gmail.com
pw: password
port: 465
When I try to send an email in Contact Us,
I put in my name, email (a@something.com), and the enquiry,
I actually do receive the enquiry in my inbox, but the sender is user@gmail.com instead of a@something.com
any clues?

Okay I figured out the reason for the trouble I am having with a gmail smtp server settings in mail setting for Opencart.
Google rewrites the address.

So what I ended up doing is to use another one of hosting provider's SMTP settings.
I hope this helps others in the future.

Here is a link on the matter:Gmail automatically rewrites the "from" line of any e-mail you send via their SMTP gateway to your Gmail address, and it overrides any Reply-To settings you may have in your e-mail software in favor of the one in Gmail's web interface.
