Hell everyone.

This issue has come out of nowhere, site was working fine, now all of a sudden when you check out, the payment method is not opening up

it just shows :
step1: checkout options
step2: payment methods
step3: confirm order

but the step 2 payment methods is not opening up! usually it will auto open with paypal express button there

what could be the possible issues?

Did you check the PayPal settings. If I remember correctly, there was an update not long ago

I only use PayPal express at the site, and the settings seems to be the same as it was.

It's enabled, geo zone= all zone, not exactly sure what else I should be looking for.

In the opencart error log, it suddenly shows this:

2018-04-24 2:08:23 - PHP Warning: unlink(storage/cache/cache.catalog.language.1524539303): No such file or directory in tickets/system/library/cache/file.php on line 68

Create an empty file called:
storage/cache/cache.catalog.language.1524539303

Then try clearing the cache again.

It might be related. Did you see this thread:

Sounds linda like yours, and if you want to try any of those solutions, perform a Backup first

One of your payment TWIG file (possibly extension) has a malformed Ajax request. Which extension payment module are you using?

Disable the PayPal Express Checkout module from the admin, clear the OC cache: viewtopic.php?f=176&p=730051#p718325 and see if the issue still persists during checkout afterwards.

Then, the issue is not with PayPal Express Checkout unless using a VQMod / OCMod extension that would interfere with the checkout payment.
