Adding Google Merchant structured data to product.twig

We are experiencing an error that prevents Google Merchant from being able to identify the price based on the design of the product.twig template. When Google ‘crawls’ product pages on our website to verify prices, it sometimes grabs other numerical values from the page (e.g. model number, description etc). To solve this, we have tried adding structured data to our product.twig template file based on this article (https://feedarmy.com/kb/add-microdata-t ... -shopping/). However, no luck. Has anyone else experienced this?
