I found this extension:

And am now curious as to what exactly a missing order is? How is this a problem? How does an order go missing? What to do to fix it? It sounds worrisome like I need this extension, but do I really?

Missing orders are those from users who started the checkout sequence, but never finished it to the final successful payment step. You can list them in the admin backend at Sales > Orders using the 'Missing orders' filter.

In the screenshot of order history, the entries with the blank status, are those what would be considered missing orders/abandoned carts? When I go into viewing the actual order the status there shows canceled.

If that is after installing an extension, then they probably are missing orders, as they have no status, unless you have an issue with your data.

Missing orders have no status. Are you sure the Cancelled you are seeing in not the drop down for the Add Order History?
