to be honest, I don't like the font. It is too "sci-fi from the 80s" and in my opinion doesn't really fit into the overall design of opencart and the new website.

I like Hiippo's logo most of all, it's really nice.

Hippo's logos and molumen's 3rd logo both look good but I think Hippo's logos have my number one vote.

Here is another logo, based upon the formerly used Opencart logo:

Actually, I liked it, too. It could easily be modified so as to have round corners and nice drop shadows, or perhaps even with a different color, e.g. blue and green, instead of the black.

Just stumbled across OpenCart, and really impressed with what I've seen, although I know it's pretty young.

I love Molumen's ideas for the Logo, very clean, great colours and recognisable, scales well and will look great in many formats.

I look forward to seeing great things come from a UK based cart!

I really like molumen's ideas. They are clean and clear.
A logo does not just need to look cool; it is an immediate representation of your business / project. Statistically a viewer will draw their conclusions within 2 seconds of looking at a design or graphic, most of their conclusions are subconscious, in other words they think 'that product appeals to me' or they don't. It depends who you want to appeal to, if you were selling T shirts aimed at a young market you would want a logo that gave the impression of hip young and cool very quickly. If you were selling bespoke furniture that appealed to people over 40 you would want a logo that probably was quite traditional and solid.
I think as opencart is an ecommerce project, I would imagine you want to appear simple, clean, modern, stylish. I think apple portray this image very well, as much as I don't like them!
I think molumen's Ideas convey the spirit of opencart very well.

obiw's entry is very attractive, but I see one major show stopper here: scalability. This logo will not work at a reasonably small size. Some tweaking may be needed to make it a viable option.

If the original is in e.g. Scalable Vector Graphics format and not just in pixel graphics then it should not be an issue. Looking at his design I am certain he's done it in a vector graphics tool and then converted it into PNG.

If the original isn't in a vector graphics format, it could be easily re-created in such a format using a tool like Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape.

I agree on the scalability of the logo. It is indeed a vector that's not the problem but the readability gets very pore when you scale it down. There isn't a lot of contrast in the images and the line's are a bit small.

It was a quick sketch but there is some positive feed back so I will look in to it, give it more contrast.

I do agree white coolhandnuke as well, it may not be to attractive for the 40+ gen.
But who do you like to target 40+ or -40? You can't please everyone...
