default banner module problems

have a problem with the default banner module that is also a linked mini slideshow - when the page opens the images are below each other and then slowly they move together and only then does the slideshow work - is there any way to stop this as its as if it loads the images as list - image weight is not high so is there maybe a way to preload the images before the site/page is opened?

I have seen a fix for this around tho forum but cant find it now. Use the slideshow module to display the banners instead of the banner module.
