opencart 2.3.0.2 image manager warning directory does not exist

Hi,
As per heaps of other OpenCart users I have been reading, I do not see the image manager and comes up with error 'warning directory does not exist'.
Have gone through the config files and they both look fine (root and admin).
I see the images and thumbnails in both the frontend and backend but cannot add new ones or delete old ones as the image manager is throwing the error.
I did disable the error message to show the folder it is trying to find and the folder it is trying to find is correct and present!!!
I have just changed server, cPanel to cPanel.
Worked fine on the old cPanel server.
Both servers running PHP5.6 with the same extensions selected.
Config files (root and admin) image directory are both set to;
define('DIR_IMAGE', '/home/'cpanel-user-name'/public_html/image/');
Yes, cPanel username reference is replaced with the cPanel username and without the ''
'image' folder has the permissions set to 0755
Have been pulling my hair out all day trying to fix this!!!

image folder need to be 777, same as cache and catalog

No, for sure NOT!
Stop posting such nonsens!
0755 is enough.

Then is a bug of installer....because install make 777

And I don't think is a security issue to have 777 just for folder image (not subfolders, and files)

I am having the same problem, definitely not a permissions thing. It worked fine a few months ago, I got away from working on the cart for a while. I returned to it yesterday and none of the images are showing and I can not access the directory though all the files are present on the server under the image directory.

I am using version 3.0.2.0

I am not using any mods or themes

Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated
