Without getting into too many details I have to recreate my current HTML website in OC and I'm using the default vers. 3 template.
I want to create the front page similar to my existing page:
www.BaselineSuspensions.com

I want two categories on this front page with a link in each image going to their individual stores. Each store only has about 15 products:
1. Mustang
2. G-Body

How would you set up these two images so they appear large and in the middle of the front page like my current site?
I thought about using the Featured option like in the default template but I can't figure out where that is located to try it. Could a Featured item be linked to an entire store front?

Another possible option would be to use my existing main page and have those two images link to their appropriate stores...?

Thoughts/suggestions?

Kevin

It's really something out of the past. ::) but you won't be able, to to make OC
look that bad anyway, that's the good thing about it.

Sorry about that, but you just waste your time around here, if you want to
turn OC around to meet Cusatom Spec's, in such ugly ways. At least not for free.
Better make your regular Site responsive, to meet todays requirements.
No offense, just information! ;)

What do you mean "no offense"? Of course you mean to offend me and you probably got a kick out of doing it too. The screen shot that you posted of is the site I am replacing with OC. I'm not sure what to say, I'm simply asking for assistance. I have two months to get the site redone to keep taking orders and I'm trying to learn this as fast as possible. If you can help, that would be great. If not, that's okay too. Any help is greatly appreciated, ideas, methods, etc..

not really, it was more an advise. But you will sure find out, how
much comes for free, if it's about a plain Moneymaker Software
like OC, and feeling offended, when it comes to strictly technical
talk. Good Luck! :D

Are you sure it doesn't need a design refresh? It looks like something from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayback_Machine.

It's so different to the OpenCart default home page that it sounds to me like you should just create your own new page that is not part of OC and then have the OC stores running in sub folders.

Thanks Paul, I appreciate the help and ideas.
As I'm struggling through the learning cycle that's what I started thinking so I posted my thoughts to see if it was even possible and if so how would I link the two categories from the main page to each of the subfolders. I haven't begun to create the sub's yet but I'm guessing each one ( Ford and GM?) would have it's own url that I can link from the main page..?

For categories you can try this
https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... n_id=37163

For products use Featured module and add what products you want.

Upgrade Service | OC 2.3.0.2 PHP 8 | My Custom OC 3.0.3.8 | Buy me a beer

I just wanted to close this thread up with what I did.
I only have two categories (Ford and GM) for the products I sell so I used the default slide show in the middle of the webpage and replaced the two default images with my two images. Then I added links to each of the images to the proper catalogs.

I obviously made this a lot harder than it was but every time I clicked on the default image it was always the one that didn't have a default link to it. Then today I clicked the other image and it went to a catalog. I didn't know those images could be linked to catalogs...duh..

you close the thread by writing [solved] in the title (at the front is the norm) .. and it helps to do that :)
