I tried a brand new installation, pulling the files from the git repository (master https://github.com/opencart/opencart).
On the git page it says 3.0.3.7, but on the admin page of the new install it says 4.0.0.0_b.
I noticed a few differences from my previous tests.
Would appreciate guidance regarding:
- which version do I actually have?
- is it stable to keep building my site on it, or should I start from a previous one?
Thanks

The master branch is the development branch. Releases are tagged (https://github.com/opencart/opencart/re ... ag/3.0.3.7) and maintained in https://github.com/opencart/opencart/tr ... aintenance.

In that case is clear I installed a beta.
Do you suggest I continue with it, or better delete and install 3.0.3.7?

Depends on what you want to do?
Just playing around: use 4.x
Want a working shop: use 3.0.3.7 (or better 3.0.3.2)

Oh! Didn't know 3.0.3.2 was a contender. Where can I read about the pros/cons between 3.0.3.2 vs 3.0.3.7?

Thanks

That would give me a factual difference between the program files.
My question was more regarding why is one of those more suited for practical use than the other.
At first sight one would assume the 3.7 version came after the 3.2 so it introduced some improvements. Is that the case?
Thanks

I have to be honest that my first reaction was to reply

 - it is good advice

but on a slightly more helpful note
viewtopic.php?f=199&t=223773

but only slightly. Trust people that use all these versions all day long ..

.. and your understanding of how things work is incorrect .. it does not follow in the real world at all - in fact the first edition is usually the best in the real world - but ‘the best’ to me is quality - 'the best’ to you may mean gadgets - ‘the best’ to someone else might mean value

so improvements yes always improvements - does that make it better?
Too much philosophy -- 3.0.3.2 stable in my opinion -
but people are using 3.0.3.6 and 3.0.3.7 - I assist on one that seems ok, but it would not be my choice if I were installing from scratch

You should not modify core files .. if you would like to donate a cup of coffee I will write it in a modification for you.

Can anyone go back to 3.0.3.2 from 3.0.3.8, is Will this be a simple method, or does it need lots of hard work?

The opencart-3 repository on Github is getting flexible.
