When you install a fresh open cart 3.0.3.8 it forces you to use PHP 8+ which I thought was more for the 4v
Does this mean anyone wanting to use a stable version will get errors such as emails being scrambled what other issues will cause? will third party mods be affected?
surely it should have stayed at 3.0.3.8 for PHP 7.4+ then a 3.0.3.9 for PHP8+
OpenCart 3.0.3.8 doesn't force you to use PHP 8. In fact it's not even compatible with PHP 8. The 3.0.x.x_Maintenance on GitHub should work with both PHP 7.4 and 8.
I just downloaded 3.0.3.8 from the list of releases and ADD Creative is correct, it only requires PHP 7.3. You can find that download link here:
https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... ad/history
You probably downloaded 3.0.3.8 from github or another source.

As above, it doesn't.

By forcing, what error triggered message do you notice either on screen or in the logs?
