I got an email from our paypal rep. He stated:
So you currently have our old standard version of PayPal which is in the process of being deprecated. Here are instructions to ad the new version. Let me know if you have any questions. We have a team of engineers that are willing to help as well. Also, please let me know when this is completed.
We use the standard paypal extension included in Opencart 3.0.3.8

Is there an alternative Paypal Extension that's update?

I saw this: https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... n_id=38358
but the comments on this extension look scary. Looks more negative than anything.

Also, I see the Paypal Commerce extenion in the list
When played with it it asks to connect to:

Allow PayPal to connect your account with OpenCart Limited1

What is Opencart Limited1?

Perhaps apply for another payment gateway available in your country.

The built-in Paypal Commerce from OpenCart 3.0.3.8 is an old one, you should use the updated extension from https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... n_id=38358

Export/Import Tool * SpamBot Buster * Unused Images Manager * Instant Option Price Calculator * Number Option * Google Tag Manager * Survey Plus * OpenTwig

Your comment is not helpful.
Besides, we have another merchant account because it's good practice to offer more than 1 payment option....but that's not the solution or purpose of my post.

My post is about Paypal because
1. WE use it currently
2. It's one of the largest most recognized and trusted processor in the world (even though they are pretty bad).

Thanks, J!
That's the one I link in my original post. They reviews of that extension seem really concerning. It looks like a lot of people have issues with it and it's made by Opencart?
I actually see a comment from you that you had issues with the plugin 7 months ago:
"Is anyone actually still maintaining this payment extension?
It currently has a number of serious bugs and is not suitable for normal OpenCart user unless they have the skills to apply needed bugfixes"

I have since then installed it on several OpenCart sites, and it works.

Thanks. I'm kind of curious about the extension. I see it has a line in paypal.php

'https://webto.salesforce.com/servlet/se ... ding=UTF-8'.

Any ideas why that would have a salesforce reference and why it would be sending data there?

Looking at the release notes and the code. It for a contact form.
Added a contact form to the module admin panel to communicate with paypal.
PayPal may say Website Payments Standard is depreciated, but they just state LEGACY in the documentation and don't give an end date. In fact we even got an email yesterday saying "PayPal will offer Apple Pay on Website Payments Standard (WPS)" for our account, so they are still working on it.
